4/24/2002 - Netergy Microelectronics, Inc., a subsidiary of 8x8, Inc. (NASDAQ: EGHT), announced today that it will be incorporating advanced video capabilities into its line of voice-over-packet (VoIP/VoDSL) semiconductors. The company will use a VLIW processor licensed from STMicroelectronics as the core of its new video architecture and Netergy's Audacity-T2 core and Veracity software for audio and network processing. The new device and embedded firmware will target applications such as IP-based videophones, multimedia streaming devices, set top boxes and integrated video, voice and data media gateways.
