4/1/2002 - A high-performance synchronous-buck DC/DC converter that enables designers to quickly and easily develop a power supply for point-of-load applications was announced today by Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN). The new synchronous DC/DC converter with internal 12A peak MOSFETs is capable of supplying greater than 9A of continuous output current over the entire operating temperature range and functioning over a 3.0 to 3.6V input voltage range. By integrating synchronous-buck power MOSFETs with control circuitry in a small 28-pin HTSSOP package, the device can provide more than 9A continuous output current with less than 0.7 square inches of board space.
