4/15/2002 - Officially extending their relationship to create the next-generation museum experience, Sun Microsystems and the J. Paul Getty Museum today announced a collaboration underway to deliver location-based personalization services for museum visitors by leveraging cool technologies such as Java[tm] and XML. Using the Sun[tm] Open Net Environment (Sun ONE) vision as a basis, Sun and the Getty together mapped-out detailed quality-of-service requirements and are now developing an end-to-end wireless application and platform infrastructure architecture. Once in the hands of the museum visitor, the finished product will act as both a way-finding device and a resource to explore the museum's collections, architecture and gardens.
