Chip Size GHz Bandwidth ZIF Sockets Allow Full System Speed for All Xilinx ICís in 0.8, 1.0, and 1.27 mm pitch BGA packages

4/1/2002 - Ironwood Electronicsí new high performance Sockets for all Xilinx BGA ICís with 0.8, 1.0, and 1.27 mm pitch allow the latest FPGAís to be socketed and operate without compromising performance in very high speed communication or computing applications. The GHz speed sockets easily support very dense BGA devices utilizing a high performance conductive elastomer contactor. A table with all Xilinx ICís 0.8 mm pitch and above is attached. The bandwidth of sockets is over 6.5 GHz and with optional contactor configurations having bandwidth capabilities over 10 GHz. The socket is a precision device, which guides the IC to the exact position for connection of each ball and uses an aluminum heat sink screw to provide compressive force. The socket shown in the picture is a 40 mm body size SG-BGA-6035.
