3/12/2002 - Synergy Microsystems, Inc., a veteran innovator of advanced VME and CompactPCI computing technologies, today announced yet another advanced embedded VME G4 CPU board in its expanding product line: the Falcon D-10. Users can now choose between the recently released Falcon P-10 and the new D-10, depending on their specific needs. Both boards offer single or dual PowerPC G4 7410s running up to 500 MHz, as well as the highly advanced, 100/133 MHz Discovery(TM) GT-64260 memory and system controller. The P-10 offers one PMC expansion site, UltraSCSI 160, one Ethernet port, up to 1 GB of SDRAM, and the high-speed P0-PCI secondary backplane bus for improved system bandwidth. The new D-10 trades SCSI and P0-PCI for the added I/O flexibility of two PMC expansion sites and an unprecedented three on-board Ethernet ports, combined with 512 MB SDRAM. Like all Synergy PowerPC boards, the Falcon D-10 supports both VxWorks® and Linux(TM) (single and symmetric multiprocessing versions), as well as Synergy’s hand-coded DSP math library optimized for the G4 AltiVec(TM) vector processing unit. The board offers several ruggedization levels, with an extended temperature option of -20 to +71°C as well as fortified board rigidity. The Falcon D-10 is competitively priced, starting at $6,925.
