Agilent Technologies 2100 Bioanalyzer Helps Food Chemists to Authenticate Meats in Processed Food

3/13/2002 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced a new application for the Agilent 2100 bioanalyzer in conjunction with the DNA 500 LabChip( kit. New meat assays are being developed that allow food chemists to authenticate the different meat species found in processed food. The tests involve amplification of very small unique DNA targets using PCR (polymerase chain reaction) and detection of DNA copies either by using the Bioanalyzer or by real-time PCR instrumentation.
