2/25/2002 - SST (Silicon Storage Technology, Inc., NASDAQ: SSTI), a leader in flash memory technology, today reinforced its position as the leading provider of flash memory solutions for the PC BIOS market. For BIOS applications in 2001, SST shipped over 50 million units of its FWH (Firmware Hub) and LPC (Low Pin Count)-Bus Interface flash memory products, as well as over 22 million units of traditional ISA bus flash. With its LPC products supporting PC systems using non-Intel chipsets, its FWH products supporting Intel chipset-based PC systems and its traditional ISA bus flash for the legacy PC architecture, SST leads the PC BIOS market with 51% market share, according to Alan Niebel, an analyst at Web-Feet Research. Additionally, Niebel forecasts the total BIOS market to reach $706 million by 2006*.
