RadiSys to Offer OS-9 Real-Time Operating System for New Intel XScale(TM)-based IXP2400 and IXP2800 Network Processors

2/26/2002 - RadiSys Corp. announced today plans to extend its current Microware OS-9® for Intel's IXP1200 to the new Intel® IXP2400 and IXP2800 network processors. The RadiSys operating system product will include an interface layer for RadiSys' Microcode Solutions Library (MSL) allowing developers implementing the new Intel IXP2400 or IXP2800 network processor devices to bring their wireline or wireless products to market more quickly. The Microware OS-9 operating system security model includes inter-process memory protection and the separation of system from applications and the architecture supports the ability to upgrade kernel components and device drivers while the system is operating - realizing the full benefit of the network processor XScale(TM) core. Therefore, the system can be maintained and not have to interrupt wireline or wireless services -eliminating planned downtime for OS upgrades.
