Major British Healthcare Provider Chooses Sun One Platform as Foundation for Enterprise-wide Communication and Collaboration

2/12/2002 - Sun Microsystems, Inc. today announced the availability of new versions of two key communications components of the Sun[tm] Open Net Environment (Sun ONE) platform, the iPlanet[tm] Messaging Server 5.2 and the iPlanet[tm] Calendar Server 5.1. The new products enable enterprises to benefit from the same functionality -- carrier-grade scalability and reliability at a low total cost of ownership -- that have propelled Sun to its current market leading position in communications software for the service provider market. In addition, Sun also announced that NHS (National Health Service) Tayside, a major regional healthcare provider in Britain, has chosen the Sun ONE platform for its enterprise-wide communications infrastructure. The Sun solution includes the iPlanet Messaging Server, iPlanet Calendar Server and iPlanet[tm] Directory Server running on the Solaris[tm] operating environment.
