Georgia Technology Authority Selects Sun One Architecture for New State Portal Initiative

2/25/2002 - Sun Microsystems, Inc. today announced it has been awarded the contract from the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) for a leading role in the development and system integration of the state's enterprise portal and interoperability architecture project. Per the terms of the agreement, GTA selected the Sun[tm] Open Net Environment (SUN ONE) Platform as the foundation for the state government's enterprise software infrastructure over competitive offerings, including Microsoft's .Net and IBM's Websphere. This replicable and proven solution gives state and local governments the ability to deliver services securely while helping to enhance collaboration, lower overall business costs and improve quality of service. The portal provides Georgia citizens, suppliers and other external vendors a single point of access to applications and services based on their roles and preferences.
