Agilent Technologies' network monitoring systems and Alcatel's STP and signaling solutions interoperate to speed deployment of IP networks

12/20/2002 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) and Alcatel (NYSE: ALA) announced the interoperability of Alcatel's Infusion signal transfer points (STPs) and Alcatel 5070 signaling server solutions with Agilent's acceSS7 network monitoring systems. Both companies' products perform essential functions in the rollout of SS7-over-IP networks, and the new interoperability enables service providers to immediately monitor and troubleshoot network communications, as well as rapidly deploy enhanced high-quality IP-based networks and services.

"Interoperability is a key factor when service providers design and purchase network infrastructure because it ensures faster deployment and greater longevity of their investments," said Tom Walls, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Telecommunication Systems Division. "The interoperability of acceSS7 and Alcatel's signaling solutions enhances the value of both companies' products and services."

"Alcatel's signaling server solutions provide the most powerful enhanced and efficient signaling solution on the market today," said Henry Wasik, vice president of Alcatel USA's voice networks and applications software activities. "The combination of Alcatel signaling servers and Agilent acceSS7 enables service providers to increase their network's profitability by quickly turning up high-quality revenue-generating services while reducing operational costs."

Alcatel is the worldwide leader in advanced signaling solutions, and Agilent is a leading provider of OSS solutions that use signaling data to manage networks. Agilent acceSS7 is now used by more than 120 of the world's leading communication service providers.

Signaling is key to quality of service in telecommunication networks and services, and Agilent and Alcatel believe that the interoperability of their OSS and signaling products will make an important contribution to the success of their customers.
