12/20/2002 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced the completion of its acquisition of RedSwitch, a leading developer of high-performance switch fabric silicon solutions for the storage, server, networking and telecom markets. The initial agreement between the two companies was signed on Sept. 26, 2002. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Prior to this transaction, Agilent held a 74 percent interest in the privately held, Milpitas, Calif.-based company, which develops and distributes advanced switch fabric silicon solutions implementing the emerging InfinBand and RapidIO industry standards. The purchase of RedSwitch enables Agilent to offer a single-vendor solution set that targets server and storage networking customers with a broad range of products, including switches, ASICs, optical transceivers, adapter boards and physical layer ICs.
RedSwitch's approximately 80 employees are now part of Agilent's Semiconductor Products Group.
