Agilent Technologies' wireless test manager for Bluetooth automates, simplifies and speeds design and manufacturing of Bluetooth modules and devices

12/12/2002 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) introduced the Agilent N4019A Bluetooth(tm) wireless test manager, a software product that enables Bluetooth manufacturers to respond quickly to the demand for wireless devices and modules. The solution accelerates time to market and reduces the cost of testing each unit.

When used with the Agilent E1852B Bluetooth test set, the Agilent N4019A Bluetooth wireless test manager provides a fast, simple way to make measurements without complex instrument control and measurement programming. The quick and easy test automation enables Bluetooth device and module developers to get the RF measurement data they need in order to characterize and improve designs and move new products into manufacturing more quickly.

"The Bluetooth wireless test manager quickly automates and optimizes manufacturing test routines giving designers the opportunity to develop automated routines at a fraction of the time previously required," said Al Schmidt, vice president of Agilent's Wireless Appliance Product Unit. "Agilent's introduction of the Bluetooth wireless test manager demonstrates our commitment to bring quality Bluetooth products to market."

Designers can automate basic parametric testing and device characterization with ready-to-use tests and hardware setup, accessed from the wireless test manager's user-friendly interface. Test developers can select Agilent test plans, create custom test plans, change specifications and test parameters, change the order of test steps, specify data collection, set up instrument interfaces and more -- all without programming.

All Agilent test routines are open code, written in Microsoft(r) Visual Basic(r) with a wireless test wizard that simplifies program development and integration. Visual Basic gives test developers additional flexibility for developing custom tests, user interfaces and automated handling routines.

U.S. Pricing and Availability
The Agilent N4019A Bluetooth wireless test manager is expected to be available in Spring 2003 at a price that does not exceed $3,000. The Agilent E1852B Bluetooth test set is available now for $17,772.
