12/10/2002 - IONA®, the leading e-Business Platform provider of Web Services Integration (NASDAQ: IONA), announced that Bob Kukura, Principal Engineer at IONA, has been elected to the Object Management Group'sTM (OMGTM) Architecture Board. The OMG Architecture Board is one of three sub-groups that together represent the OMG's Technology Committee. The OMG Architecture Board ensures that specifications developed by the Domain Technology Committee (DTC) and the Platform Technology Committee (PTC) concerning infrastructure and modeling specifications, as well as vertical market specifications, are consistent with the OMG's architecture and existing suite of specifications.
The OMG is an open membership, not-for-profit consortium that produces and maintains computer industry specifications for interoperable enterprise applications. Its membership roster, about 800 strong, includes virtually every large company in the computer industry, and hundreds of smaller ones. Most of the companies that shape enterprise and Internet computing today are represented on its Board of Directors. IONA joined the OMG in 1991, and today serves on the organizations Board of Directors, Technical Committee and Architecture Board.
"The work of the OMG and its membership represents some of the most important achievements in the computing industry to date," said Sean Baker, chief corporate scientist and co-founder at IONA. "As the OMG continues to grow and develop specifications that support interoperability within enterprise computing, groups like the OMG Architecture Board become increasingly important. Bob Kukura is an industry veteran and exceptional enginneer who is focused on the evolution and preservation of interoperable technology. We're proud of Bob's election to the Architecture Board, and look forward to supporting his participation."
"Bob has been an active member with the OMG since 1990, and a key contributor in the areas of interface repository, messaging, security, and IIOP specifications," said Richard Soley, OMG Chairman and CEO. "Bob brings a level of experience and an understanding of the OMG's work as it relates to the computing industry as a whole. He will prove to be a major asset to the OMG Architecture Board."
