Performance Technologies Introduces First Ever Embedded Solution to Integrate Ethernet Switching and Packet Processing in a Single Slot

12/5/2002 - Performance Technologies, Inc. announced the FlexNATTM (Flexible Network Address Translation) module, the first and only embedded Ethernet solution to enable wire-speed packet processing and gigabit Ethernet switching in a single PICMG® 2.16 chassis slot. The latest addition to the company's aggressive product roadmap, FlexNAT is rooted in 125 man-years experience providing complete Ethernet switching and networking solutions. By combining essential switching and packet processing functions in a single slot, the solution saves crucial chassis space, while enhancing system security, resiliency and performance for developers and manufacturers of communications and networking equipment.

FlexNAT is available as an option on select Performance Technologies IPnexusTM embedded Ethernet switches and comes bundled with comprehensive Network Address Translation (NAT) and Load Sharing NAT (LSNAT) software. This allows designers to build robust and scalable embedded systems that provide a broader range of capabilities for packet communications and networking applications.

FlexNAT addresses critical system architecture needs for high-speed packet processing in embedded systems, bringing the benefits of transparent translation of IP packets from secure private networks to public ones. The FlexNAT solution allows designers to enhance the capabilities of their PICMG® 2.16 and VITA 31.1 server blade systems by offering advanced networking capabilities like sophisticated inter-domain translation, load sharing and firewalling at near gigabit wire speeds.

  • Allows a managed approach to system scalability by transparently adding servers to handle increasing session load or to replace failed devices without affecting external network connections.
  • Complies with the current PICMG 2.15 ECR providing four gigabit Ethernet ports to the PTMC daughter card.

Pricing and Availability
List price for the FlexNAT module, including the NAT/LSNAT software, is $4,495. Availability is first quarter of 2003.
