12/4/2002 - 3Dlabs®, a wholly owned subsidiary of Creative Technology, announced that it has certified the Wildcat®4 graphics accelerators as high-end graphics solutions for the new HP® workstations xw5000, xw6000 and xw8000. Both the Wildcat4 7110 and 7210 will be available from selected resellers and certified on HP workstations. This exciting news follows recent announcements by 3Dlabs of its Wildcat4 solutions also becoming available with Dell and IBM workstations.
Wildcat4 uses the latest generation of 3Dlabs’ acclaimed Wildcat architecture, which is widely acknowledged for delivering true designer productivity through unmatched performance, functionality and quality when running professional CAD and DCC applications. Wildcat4 offers 10-bit sub-pixel accuracy and exclusive SuperSceneTM full scene antialiasing, and extends the desktop with dual analog and digital monitor support.
“We are pleased to have 3Dlabs’ Wildcat4 graphics certified on our new HP workstations,” said Jim Zafarana, worldwide marketing manager, HP workstation global business unit. “The combination of HP workstations and Wildcat4 products should provide digital content creation, mechanical CAD, geographic information systems, and oil and gas exploration customers with a broader selection of graphics and system configurations.”
“3Dlabs and HP have a long and successful history of working together to supply outstanding workstation solutions and we are delighted that this tradition is continuing with Wildcat4,” said Jerry Peterson, executive vice president and general manager of 3Dlabs workstation division. “The performance and quality of HP workstations make them a compelling choice for demanding professional designers looking for the graphics productivity that Wildcat4 graphics can provide.”
Shipping with 256MB of on-board memory, Wildcat4 7110 is specifically engineered to provide unmatched high-end graphics performance with the new-generation of AGP 8x workstations by transferring a full 2GB of graphics information per second to the graphics subsystem for outstanding geometry-intensive performance. The ultra high-end Wildcat4 7210 increases the on-board graphics memory to an astounding 384MB and provides Frame Lock/Genlock connectors for advanced simulation and other multi-display applications. Wildcat4 is available on Microsoft® Windows® 2000 and XP operating systems with custom drivers for AutoCADŇ and 3ds maxTM. 3Dlabs expects to introduce 3D-optimized Linux® drivers for the Wildcat4 in early 2003.
