12/3/2002 - Ulticom, a leading provider of signaling software, enabling mobility, location, payment, switching and messaging services, announced that Fujitsu Limited is using Ulticom's Signalware software in its GeoServe Signaling Gateway Server, a crucial part of Fujitsu's comprehensive softswitch solution. The incorporation of Signalware into the GeoServe Signaling Gateway Server provides Fujitsu with carrier-grade access to Signaling System 7 (SS7) allowing for the development of innovative Voice Over IP (VoIP) services that generate new revenue streams for service providers.
Signalware was selected for the GeoServe Signaling Gateway because of its rich set of features including comprehensive support for softswitch solutions and a large library of global variants. Ulticom's Signalware software suite facilitates network convergence and offers Fujitsu unparalleled scalability and fault tolerance along with faster time to market.
Fujitsu's "e-Volving II" telephony solution meets today's requirements for carrier-grade high availability and reliability. GeoServe Signaling Gateway Server is a part of the e-Volving II solution, which enables interworking between PSTN and IP networks that terminate SS7 and control the Media Gateway (H.248). It also provides the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) interworking function. Fujitsu combines the traditional circuit switch technology with the latest IP technology to ensure real time communication and high availability function in addition to the information technology basis and expertise, which will ensure that customers have reliable and stable network operation.
"Our solutions enable advanced communication services that are evolving with changing needs of individuals and enterprises. Wireline, wireless, and IP networks are interlinked, and people can access services that utilize resources from multiple network segments," said Nohda Michitaka, General Manager of Fujitsu's Network Service Solutions Division. "We chose Ulticom's Signalware solution because it greatly facilitates developing and deploying services for converged networks, and for its combination of carrier-grade reliability and scalability."
"Signalware continues to capture greater mind share among network equipment providers worldwide, as a key enabler of new IP-based services and circuit-to-packet convergence solutions," said Shawn Osborne CEO of Ulticom. "Industry leaders like Fujitsu rely on Signalware to support the complex signaling needs of their softswitch solutions."
