11/19/2002 - Jungo Software Technologies, a leading provider of driver development software tools, announced that an innovative WinDriver extension for Custom USB HID devices is available for alpha testing. The WinDriver extension, including a wizard, user level API and DLL, speeds development of custom USB HID applications based on the USB HID standard class driver.
WinDriver enables development of high performance drivers for USB peripheral devices that run under Windows 98, Me, 2000, XP and NT. The toolkit supports Control, Bulk, Interrupt and Isochronous data transfers, pipe reset and device reset operations and support low, full and high speed devices.
The WinDriver extension for custom USB HID devices uses the standard USB HID class drivers that are part of the operating system, exposing the developer to an easy to use API that reduces the learning curve required to develop custom USB devices using the HID USB standard. The extension for custom USB HID exploits standard HID support provided with the operating system, thereby both eliminating the need to develop a kernel level driver and resulting in smooth distribution and maintenance of the application.
WinDriver will now benefit developers of USB HID-based devices including computer keyboards, mice, audio/video devices, sports equipment, medical instruments, as well as device primitives that are associated with general digital devices, such as LEDs and LCDs.
