American Arium Announces Plans to Support Processors Based on the Intel XScale Microarchitecture by Year End

11/18/2002 - American Arium, an industry leader in software debug and integration tool development, announced plans to support processors based on the Intel® XScaleTM microarchitecture by year end. Arium will provide emulation support for the Intel® PXA210 and PXA250 application processors; the Intel® 80200 and IOP321 I/O processors; the Intel® IXP425, IXP2400, and IXP2800 network processors; and the newly introduced Intel® IXC1100 control plane processor.

Coinciding with the expected release of SourcePointTM 5.2, the latest version of the companyís flagship debugging software, Ariumís XScale debug solution for JTAG debugging is rounded out with its SC-1000 and GS-1000 emulators. It is designed to support Intel XScale technology as well as ARM-based processor solutions. This tool combination provides a non-intrusive method to quickly locate and fix hard-to-find bugs.

"SourcePoint 5.2 was designed specifically to support processors based on the Intel XScale microarchitecture," said Larry Traylor, American Ariumís CEO. "The proliferation of products using the high performance and low power technology for embedded processors make it an obvious choice."

For over a decade, American Arium has built diagnostic software and emulators for developers using Intel® Architecture and Itanium® family processors. "We have worked with Intelís architecture groups for several years, so supporting the Intel XScale microarchitecture was a natural extension of our product line," Traylor said. He also noted that Arium is a member of the Intel® Internet Exchange Architecture (IXA) Developer Network a group of best-in-class companies with products that complement Intelís family of IXP network processors."

"Enabling our customers with the best selection of tools is essential for rapid software development and system integration" said Doug Davis, general manager, Intel Network Processing Group. "American Arium is experienced in providing tools to aid software and firmware developers debug code that helps them get product to market more quickly."

"We are excited about our continued our relationship with Intel via support of the Intel XScale microarchitecture," said Jeff Acampora, vice president of Sales and Marketing for American Arium. "Our choice to support this technology demonstrates our confidence and cooperation with Intel and in fulfilling the demands of our customers."

SourcePoint 5.2, the SC-1000 and GS-1000 emulators supporting the XScale microarchitecture are expected to be available in December 2002. Contact American Arium for more information.
