11/15/2002 - Fujitsu Network Communications, the leader in the optical telecommunications market, announced the launch of its new, business class Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Centrex telephony solution. With the VoIP SRS-12i and SRS-24i telephones, customers can combine their existing solutions for data connectivity and voice service into one converged network to maximize bandwidth usage and reduce network cost.
With the state-of-the-art VoIP technology found in the SRS-12i and SRS-24i telephones, a single infrastructure is used to carry simultaneous voice and data traffic through the Local Area Network (LAN) and the Wide Area Network (WAN) without the hardware, wiring or expenses associated with Key Systems or PBXs. Convergence of both voice and data traffic onto existing facilities better optimizes the network, and therefore maximize the full potential of the network. And the SRS-12i and SRS-24i systems extend the “Five 9s” of reliability or 99.999 percent uptime from the service providers Central Office to the customers’ premises, which equates to a service guarantee of no more than five minutes and 15 seconds of unplanned downtime per year.
“As a current leader in the ISDN Centrex marketplace, Fujitsu is committed to developing solutions that will help our customers optimize their existing network,” said Mark Ragusa, head of planning and development, end user products at Fujitsu Network Communications. “The introduction of the SRS-12i and SRS-24i Voice over IP telephones follows a planned evolution, which allows end users to transport both voice and data traffic over a single converged infrastructure thus increasing revenue-generating opportunities and decreasing network costs.”
The Fujitsu SRS-12i and SRS-24i IP Centrex Telephones offer a dedicated, stand-alone VoIP end point that provides convenient access to Centrex voice services through ITU H.323 gateways over a managed IP network. Other advanced features include remote firmware updates to download new software releases directly to the telephone, 104 total call log entries to track incoming and outgoing calls, Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) for automatic time/date updates, and two-year parts and labor warranty on equipment to protect against defect and breakage.
