11/12/2002 - Agilent Technologies announced that VIA Technologies, a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions, has agreed to implement the Agilent 93000 SOC Series Test System to test its next-generation, high-performance microprocessor chipsets. The Agilent 93000 enables VIA to test its HyperTransport devices at speeds of up to an industry-leading 800 Megabits per second (Mb/s) today, and up to 1.6 Gigabits per second (Gb/s) in the future.
VIA is implementing the Agilent 93000 NP-model, optimized for characterization and production test for high-speed devices. As a recent addition to the Agilent 93000 platform, the NP-model has Native Source Synchronous testing capabilities as a standard part of the product and is specifically focused on addressing today's test needs for high-speed network infrastructure and computer architectures such as HyperTransport. With the testing capabilities of up to 1.7 Gb/s, and the ability to test up to 2.5 Gb/s in the future, VIA is able to test a full portfolio of devices today with the most flexible utilization for more advanced technologies like embedded serializer/deserializer (SerDes), PCI Express, Rapid IO and Serial ATA tomorrow.
"VIA is continually looking for ways to increase throughput and decrease development time in today's demanding and changing graphics and PC chipset market. Working with Agilent's worldwide service and support infrastructure, VIA has access to a flexible test platform with a wide range of testing capabilities and proven test cost reductions," said Shelton LU, vice president of manufacturing and product engineering, VIA Technologies Inc. "With the high-speed leadership of the Agilent 93000, we're able to test complex technologies today like HyperTransport, at speeds of up to 800 Mb/s now and Serial Bus at 2.5 Gb/s in the future, thus giving us the competitive advantage we need to be successful now and moving forward."
"As devices become more complex and testing speeds increase, we are proud to offer VIA an advanced, integrated solution for all their high-speed testing needs," said Tom Newsom, vice president and general manager of Agilent's SOC Business Unit. "As a recognized leader in the graphic and PC chipset market, VIA's utilization of the Agilent 93000 illustrates the platform's ability to meet stringent testing requirements today and into the future."
About the Agilent 93000 SOC Series
