NTT Comware Standardizes on Rational Unified Process and Unified Change Management Across Entire 4,000-Person Software Development Organization

11/6/2002 - Rational Software announced that NTT Comware, one of the largest systems integrators in Japan, has standardized on the Rational Unified Process® and Unified Change Management (UCM) for all software development projects across its entire 4,000-person development organization.

UCM is Rational's best practices process for managing change from requirements to release. UCM is enabled by Rational® ClearCase® and Rational® ClearQuest®, Rational's market-leading software configuration management solution, and is a key component of the Rational Unified Process. UCM defines a consistent, activity-based process for managing change that teams can apply to their development projects.

NTT Comware has conducted four pilot projects with Rational's tools and the Rational Unified Process since 2001. Based on the success of these projects, NTT Comware has adopted the Rational Unified Process, Rational ClearCase and Rational ClearQuest across its enterprise. NTT Comware also will utilize a localized version of Rational's Web-based training on the Rational Developer NetworkSM to help improve its productivity with Rational's solutions.

"NTT Comware's goal is to strengthen our competitive advantage by adopting the Rational Unified Process and other Rational solutions," said Yuji Matsuo, president of NTT Comware. "Our work with Rational will enable us to continue to more rapidly provide higher-quality and reliable systems to our customers."
