Agilent Technologies Cuts Costs, Network Downtime and Repair Time with New Network Analyzer Solutions

11/6/2002 - Agilent Technologies continued to help cut installation and maintenance costs for service providers and enterprise network operators by introducing the Agilent Distributed Network Analyzer ME and the Distributed Network Analyzer MX. The solutions will reduce network downtime, repair time and operating costs by enabling the deployment of network analyzers at critical network points for centralized and remote troubleshooting.

Both products deliver the power, breadth and flexibility of the Agilent Network Analyzer platform that was introduced in January 2002, the only product that enables users to test all major applications (voice, IP telephony, mobile) on all critical network technologies (LAN, WAN, ATM) in real time.

The Distributed Network Analyzer ME was designed for customers who need a low-cost, in-depth, standalone LAN troubleshooting tool. The Distributed Network Analyzer MX is a standalone tool that can be easily distributed or rack-mounted. It supports all network analyzer line interface modules (LIMs) with one interface slot. The modules are hot swappable and interchangeable. In addition, the Distributed Network Analyzer MX can be accessed with a modem.

"Network operators need to drastically reduce network operating expenses to remain competitive," said Steve Witt, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Network Systems Test Division. "The Network Analyzer product family enables our customers to troubleshoot remotely, thereby reducing the need to send highly-skilled technicians to the site. The Distributed Network Analyzer ME and Distributed Network Analyzer MX can be installed right into the network and provide the form factor, remote access and ease-of-use required for the extended troubleshooting sessions that are essential to diagnose and fix hard-to-solve network problems."

U.S. Pricing and Availability
The Distributed Network Analyzer ME is expected to ship in February 2003 at a cost of $7,800. The Distributed Network Analyzer MX is expected to ship in February 2003 at a cost of $12,500 per distributed solution, including hardware and software. LIMs can be purchased separately.
