Extended Systems Announces Advantage Replication

11/5/2002 - Extended Systems, a leading provider of mobile information management solutions for the enterprise, unveiled Advantage Replication, the newest addition to the company's software offering. Advantage Replication offers Advantage Database Server customers a powerful solution to maintain and replicate database information at distributed locations or across an entire mobile workforce. In addition to enabling businesses to share information throughout the organization, Advantage Replication offers high availability and back-up protection that ensures company data is always accurate and accessible when it is needed most.

Leveraging the technology of the company's flagship synchronization product, XTNDConnect Server, Advantage Replication allows for the replication of data and/or subsets of data in a database across one or more systems. Using replication, customers are ensured a consistent view of business-critical corporate database information across distributed locations. By utilizing the XTNDConnect Server technology, Advantage Replication provides customers with scheduled replication of databases from a corporate server to branch servers, as well as the infrastructure for mobile device and application deployment.

"Extended Systems continues to provide developers with feature-rich, high-performance embedded database software that can easily be distributed on a variety of platforms at extremely low prices when compared to relational database servers such as Pervasive, Interbase or MS SQL Server," said Don Baumgartner, Extended Systems vice president of worldwide marketing. "This, coupled with the option of instant database mobility, once again demonstrates Extended Systems' ability to drive the market and deliver value to its customers."

Feature Highlights
High Availability Provides access to the data you need when you need it most. For example, Advantage Replication provides branch office or chain store environments the ability to exchange and share data at various levels throughout its operations. By utilizing Advantage Replication, vital information from point of sale applications, such as inventory data, can be shared with the entire organization, from regional and district offices to headquarters.

Highly-distributed Enables updates, online or offline. For example, Advantage Replication allows a mobile sales force, where users are often disconnected during the day, to update information automatically after normal working hours.

Backup Assures enterprises their business-critical database information is consistent. For example, where the bandwidth or transmission requirements make off-hour batch driven backup impossible, Advantage Replication meters the updates throughout the day, facilitating a warm backup.

Pricing and Availability
Advantage Replication is available immediately. List price starts at $500 for the initial server to server license. Additional licenses are available at a per site or per user cost.
