Samsung Selects Trimble GPS Timing to Sync Base Stations Used in KDDI's Mobile Network

11/1/2002 - Trimble announced that Samsung Electronics has selected the Company as its primary supplier for Global Positioning System (GPS) time and frequency receivers for its next generation CDMA base stations that will be used in KDDI's mobile network. As a part of the network infrastructure, Trimble's GPS receivers will provide precise timing between Samsung's base stations to synchronize wireless communication transmissions.

Samsung was selected to supply the base stations and other mobile network equipment to KDDI, a leading Japanese mobile carrier. KDDI is to begin upgrading its existing cdma2000 1X network with 1X EV-DO (evolution-data only) equipment, later this year, to increase data transmission speeds for its customer base.
