10/31/2002 - RadiSys announced that its Savvi SS7 gateways are now fully conformant to the new Sigtran standards for M2UA and M3UA. This makes the RadiSys gateways the first to support full compliance with the new specifications.
Many carriers, service providers and operators have delayed migration to Sigtran SS7/IP technology pending completion of the standards and their subsequent adoption by equipment manufacturers. Sigtran protocols are defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Signaling Transport (Sigtran) Working Group. Last month, two of the standards - namely, MTP2-User Adaptation Layer (M2UA) and MTP3-User Adaptation Layer (M3UA) - achieved RFC status within the IETF, thus completing the standards process. RadiSys expects that other signaling equipment manufacturers will follow its lead and move quickly to adopt and support the new standards as well.

All of RadiSys Savvi gateways include RFC 2960-compliant Streams Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) for reliable delivery of signaling messages over IP, including multihoming for automatic fail-over/recovery in the event of network failure. The Savvi SX Signaling Extender and Savvi SR Signaling Router also include M2UA, and the Savvi SG Signaling Gateway includes both M2UA and M3UA. RadiSys also maintains compatibility with previous versions of these protocols, as well.

The RadiSys family of Savvi SS7/IP gateways includes the Savvi ST Tunneling Gateway, the Savvi SX Signaling Extender, the Savvi SR Signaling Router and the Savvi SG Signaling Gateway.
