10/31/2002 - Avnet Applied Computing (AAC) announced the launch of a new and unique program that provides its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers the ability to receive fully configured, customer-specific replacement solutions in an expeditious manner. This unique service from Avnet FasTrac Services is known as AAC's OEM Spares Program.
Avnet FasTrac Services enables product developers to focus on their core intellectual property and sales efforts while Avnet addresses the time-to-market, technology, engineering, and logistics components of the product life cycle. As part of the OEM Spares Program, Avnet FasTrac Services uses a strict revision control to ensure system configuration process integrity. Through the program, AAC warehouses a set percentage of the customer's total commitment — typically 4 to 5 percent — in a complete assembled configuration, available for immediate delivery.
"Avnet Applied Computing recognizes that some OEMs need replacement systems with the exact original components available to service their end-customers when a failure occurs. The OEM Spares Program delivers this possibility by ensuring that fully configured systems are housed within AAC's logistic centers and are available within 24 hours of request," said Troy Blanchette, senior vice president, Avnet FasTrac Services. "The OEM Spares Program eliminates the need for OEMs to stock excess inventory to ensure revision control, when a system fails. It can be very costly to house such components both from an inventory and administrative perspective. With AAC's OEM Spares Program, our OEM customer will receive a full-replacement, duplicate system and leave the refurbishment of the failed unit in AAC's hands."
AAC's OEM Spares Program uses world-class integration and logistics services to ensure rapid system availability for its customers.
