10/31/2002 - Jungo Software Technologies, a leading provider of residential gateway software and technologies announced the release of OpenRG v2.1, Jungo's embedded software platform for broadband access devices. OpenRG includes drivers, an operating system and remote management capabilities and delivers a set of highly integrated applications and services required for the home and small office.
OpenRG v2.1 enhances previous versions of Jungo's residential gateway software by introducing the following applications and features: support for Linux 2.4; Multi Permanent Virtual Circuit (PVC) and Multi Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) connections; remote upgrade with dual image; Universal Serial Bus (USB) master; Firewire; support for remote syslog server; additional Application Level Gateways (ALGs) including Quake I,II,III, AOL® Instant MessengerTM (AIM) and MSN® messenger with Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) support. In addition, Jungo developed complementary Network Management System (NMS) modules that include Kerberos server and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) client, supporting Kerberos and Diffie Helman key exchange.
The core modules and applications of the OpenRG platform provide a mature and proven infrastructure for CPE manufacturers. These include: home networking interfaces such as Ethernet, Universal Serial Bus (USB) slave, Home Phoneline Networking Alliance (HomePNA), wireless LAN - 802.11b and Bluetooth; Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP); Domain Name Server (DNS); Network Address Port Translation (NAT/NAPT); Stateful Packet Inspection Firewall; Virtual Private Network (VPN); Routing Information Protocol (RIP), static routing, and Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP); web based management, Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and remote upgrade capabilities; Universal Plug and Play; Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) and system statistics and monitoring.
