10/30/2002 - IDT (Integrated Device Technology), a leading communications IC company, announced that Huawei Technologies, a global provider of telecom equipment and network solutions, has selected its RC32334 integrated communications processor for its 3526E local area network (LAN) switch. This customer success strengthens IDT’s position as a leading integrated processor supplier for the growing Chinese communications infrastructure market, and further demonstrates the company’s commitment to support the design and manufacturing activity in Asia.
IDT’s family of integrated processors have quickly become the de facto standard for managed Layer-2 Ethernet switching applications, with three of the fop four suppliers leveraging an IDT device as part of their solution. IDT’s partnership with Broadcom has produced a range of turnkey platforms, including solutions for fast Ethernet and gigabit Ethernet systems, which companies like Huawei have used to their advantage to simplify their design, reduce their overall system cost, and bring their product to market faster. The inclusion of a peripheral component interconnect (PCI) interface on IDT’s RC3233X devices provides a direct connection to the Broadcom Ethernet switch fabric, further simplifying system design and providing system scalability to higher port count switching platforms through the inclusion of additional switch fabrics.
IDT has built a strong presence in the local Chinese market, including its investment in the IDT design center in Shanghai and through its local sales and technical support teams. Design wins from strong companies such as Huawei.
"IDT views Huawei as a significant provider of communications equipment and a company that is well aligned to our current product portfolio and strategic direction," said Jack Lin, IDT’s sales director for china and Taiwan. "We are committed to investing in the resources required to support the needs of indigenous Chinese system suppliers such as Huawei, and have built a strong foothold in this marketplace through the addition to our design center in Shanghai and our continued investment in design and manufacturing capabilities."
