Agilent Technologies' Enhanced Telephony Network Analyzer Helps Network Operators Cut Costs, Boost Productivity
10/29/2002 - Agilent Technologies enhanced its installation and maintenance portfolio for service providers and enterprise network operators by adding new capabilities to its Telephony Network Analyzer software. These capabilities are expected to significantly reduce the cost of testing voice quality on Voice-over-IP (VoIP) networks by providing non-intrusive Mean Opinion Scores (MOS) on live VoIP calls. The new release is now the industry's first solution to offer non-intrusive voice quality testing calibrated to the ITU P.862 standard, PESQ.
The Telephony Network Analyzer includes new measurement technology from Psytechnics, the inventors of PESQ, which allows users to make the most accurate measurements available on live VoIP calls. Other enhancements include the following:
- the ability to see how end users are experiencing their service with non-intrusive MOS
- more detailed analysis of VoIP packet loss, jitter, delay and other parameters
- one solution for QoS and signaling testing, which are the two main requirements for VoIP testing
- the ability to troubleshoot multiple versions of signaling protocols by offering expert analysis of SIP and H.323 signaling for VoIP calls
"By providing better and more accurate visibility into both voice quality and network performance, Agilent can help network operators stay focused on building networks that meet their customers' needs," said Steve Witt, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Network Systems Test Division.
The Telephony Network Analyzer is an Agilent Network Analyzer solution that supports VoIP analysis and offers real-time VoIP application troubleshooting on LAN and WAN/ATM networks. It automatically detects signaling errors and alerts the user as to the cause of the problem.
U.S. Pricing and Availability
The new version of the Telephony Network Analyzer is available now for $10,000. Agilent will upgrade the previous version for $3,000.
