10/28/2002 - Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe, the leading supplier of high performance telecommunications solutions and Texas Instruments announced that Fujitsu has implemented TI's central office ADSL chipsets in its FDX DSL Access Concentrator to support ADSL deployments throughout the UK.
Through use of TI's DSL technology, Fujitsu is able to meet the performance and infrastructure density demands of its growing ADSL business, which has deployed over 500,000 lines of DSL in Europe.
Fujitsu's FDX DSL Access Concentrator is designed to enable cost-effective delivery of a complete range of broadband services. These range from simple, fast Internet access and packet-based telephony, to complete interactive digital television packages over a single, copper telephone line, using ADSL technologies.
"Our advanced DSL platform FDX is being used to provide a range of new broadband services whilst enabling low cost penetration of broadband to a wide customer base," said Simon Rees, Director DSL Solutions, Fujitsu Telecom Europe. "By incorporating TI's ADSL technology, we are able to offer high-performance, cost-competitive ADSL access solutions."
With Fujitsu's selection of TI's central office chipset solutions, TI further strengthens its position as the leading ADSL chipset provider in Europe. The FDX platform is based on TI's AC5 chipset to deliver the high performance, high densities and interoperability required by the UK Market.
"We are very pleased that Fujitsu, the leading provider of broadband solutions in the UK, has chosen TI's ADSL technology for its FDX platform," said Greg Jones, general manager of TI's DSL Business Unit. "Europe is a key contributor to global ADSL deployment growth and working with Fujitsu to support subscriber growth in the UK has been an opportunity for us to extend our ADSL business growth as well."
