10/25/2002 - IP Infusion, a leading provider of intelligent network software for enhanced IP services, announced availability of an IPv6 routing solution for network systems based on Applied Micro Circuits Corporation's (AMCC) family of network processors. The company will demonstrate an IPv6 solution for AMCC's nP3400 network processor at Network Processors Conference (NPC) West, being held October 22 through 24.
With the continued acceptance of IPv6, networking vendors will be looking to quickly deploy IPv6 solutions. Network processor suppliers are increasingly working with protocol sofware providers to enable the efficient development of next generation applications such as IPv6.
IP Infusion will be demonstrating ZebOS Network Processing Suite (NPS) IPv6 packet forwarding code, developed by IP Infusion, running on the AMCC nP Workbench-3400 reference platform. Video streams will be shown running over IPv6 microcode on the nP3400 network processor.
"IP Infusion is very excited to be demonstrating our IPv6 forwarding solution on AMCC's network processors. Customers can now have access to a robust reference implementation for developing IPv6 solutions," stated Chuck Sannipoli, vice president and general manager of the Network Processing Group at IP Infusion.
"This collaboration is an excellent example of delivering on the network processing value proposition. As network processor technology continues to proliferate, software providers can rapidly offer the latest in protocol support," added Robin Melnick, director of marketing for AMCC's Switching and Network Processing Division. "AMCC and IP Infusion can help networking vendors designing IPv6 applications reduce development time and expense by providing a solid, integrated base on which to build."
ZebOS™ Network Processing Suite
ZebOS NPS is a series of offerings designed to enable quick integration of ZebOS IP protocol code on the control plane with forwarding code on the data plane. ZebOS NPS offerings include code that maps ZebOS APIs to those of network processor tools vendors, documented and tested integrated control plane/data plane reference designs, and forwarding code for network processors from major vendors.
About IP Infusion
A leading provider of intelligent network software for enhanced IP services, IP Infusion is a developer of networking software that enables platforms, hardware, devices, and media across the Internet to communicate with each other openly and without dependence on specific technologies or platforms. Just as Unix and Windows are central to the PC and server markets, this leading edge software will drive the communication equipment market by providing the intelligence and manageability needed to develop equipment for creating enhanced IP services. IP Infusion was founded in 1999 and has more than 60 employees in its San Jose, Calif. headquarters and elsewhere in the U.S. and Europe. The company has a growing global customer base in the wired and wireless networking markets and has alliances with the primary network processor (NPU) suppliers. IP Infusion is a member of the Network Processing Forum and an active participant in the IETF.
AMCC designs, develops, manufactures, and markets high-performance, high-bandwidth silicon solutions empowering intelligent wide area networks. AMCC utilizes a combination of digital, mixed-signal and high-frequency analog design expertise coupled with system-level knowledge and multiple silicon process technologies to offer integrated circuit products that enable the transport of voice and data over fiber optic networks. The company's system solution portfolio includes switch fabric, traffic management, network processor, framer/mapper, PHY and PMD devices that address the high-performance needs of the evolving intelligent optical network. AMCC's corporate headquarters and wafer fabrication facilities are located in San Diego, California. Sales and engineering offices are located throughout the world.
