10/25/2002 - Reality Commerce Corporation ("RCC"), an advanced digital video software solution provider, and E2Vision (E2V), a Singapore based video solutions company, announced a strategic partnership to bring the industry's first dual-channel MPEG4 real-time CIF encoding solution for the video surveillance market into the Asia Pacific region. The solution uses the RCC-Panther-1200 software suite running on a single Equator MAP - CATM chip running at 256MHz, resulting in a low cost and high performance design. The joint solution enables fast time-to-market for both PCbased and embedded digital video recorder (DVR) products.
The RCC-Panther-1200 series software suite provides dual channel CIF realtime MPEG4 video encoding and dual channel G.729a audio encoding on a single MAP-CATM 256MHz processor. The RCC-Panther-1200 is scene adaptive, providing up to four times savings in hard disk space over existing MPEG1 based DVR products. In addition, it provides error resilience over packet loss ideal for remote viewing over the Internet. The RCC-Panther-1200 software suite also provides features specifically designed for surveillance applications such as antishake motion prediction, region-based motion detection, camera date and time stamp, and preview functions on a host PC.
The MAP - CATM and BSP-15TM processor family from Equator utilizes advanced VLIW architecture with clock frequency ranging from 256MHz to 400MHz. Even at 256MHz, MAP - CATM is capable of delivering 25 GOPS of image processing power, providing ample performance for video compression as well as other realtime intelligent video processing.
