10/24/2002 - IP Infusion, a leading provider of intelligent network software, and MontaVista Software, the company powering the embedded revolution, announced that they will be showcasing an IP interoperability demonstration at the Network Processor Conference in San Jose, California from October 23-24. The demonstration consists of IP Infusion’s modular, portable ZebOS Advanced Routing Suite (ARS) running on MontaVistaTM Linux® Professional Edition and network processor platforms.
IP Infusion demonstrates the interoperability and portability of its ZebOS ARS control plane software with two network processors and MontaVista Linux Professional Edition 2.1, which provides enhanced real-time capabilities. The result is a solution that can be rapidly integrated with MontaVista Linux and Intel network processor platforms using control plane and data plane components. Together, MontaVista Software and IP Infusion can create communications solutions on Intel network processor platforms that serve access, edge, and core router and switch markets.
"Fast time-to-market has always been a key to success for vendors of communications applications. IP Infusion with its modular, scalable, and resilient routing and switching offerings, together with its partners’ solutions, can provide essential components to enable OEMs and their customers to achieve their service and revenue creation goals," said Nick Keating, president and CEO of IP Infusion. "We are pleased to now announce MontaVista Software as one of our core operating system partners. Together, we can assist communications equipment suppliers in rapidly building products using network processors."
"With the convergence of voice and data, telecommunications companies must guarantee the delivery of new, sophisticated end-user services in an affordable way, The combination of IP Infusion’s ZebOS ARS software and MontaVista Software Linux gives network OEMs the tools they need to architect solutions that take advantage of ever increasing processing power and bandwidth," said Sheila Baker, vice president, marketing, MontaVista Software. "At the same time, it provides the scalability and cost efficiencies that are essential to telecommunications equipment manufacturers in this difficult economic environment."
IP Infusion is a member of the Network Processing Forum (NPF), working within the Forum’s Software Working Group to define standard control plane/data plane interfaces for IPv4 unicast route updates. IP Infusion intends to work within the NPF to define and promote IPv6, MPLS, and other control to data plane interfaces in the future.
