10/23/2002 - Spectrum Signal Processing, a leading provider of high performance solutions for wireless signal and packet-voice processing, and BAE SYSTEMS, a leading defense systems contractor, announced the sale of a next generation acquisition system featuring Spectrumís flexComm High Channel Density Receiver (HCDR) PowerPCTM subsystem and BAE SYSTEMS Wide Band SI-9136A Dual Channel VME-based RF tuner.

Spectrumís signal processing subsystem, seamlessly integrated with BAE SYSTEMSí ultra-fast wideband RF tuner products, allows uninterrupted distribution of wide band digital Intermediate Frequency (IF) data to multiple digital down-converters for simultaneous processing and analysis. Apart from the obvious economic benefits of a COTS solution incorporating digital IF as opposed to analog distribution, the system is physically less complex, more flexible and scalable, and provides a more robust system from a signal integrity standpoint.
The BAE SYSTEMS/Spectrum base wireless intercept platform is capable of processing 128 narrow band channels in 200MHz of RF bandwidth tunable over 2MHz to 3GHz. The system can be scaled in either channel density or RF frequency coverage by adding or removing either RF components or processing elements without impacting software investment.
This joint win with BAE SYSTEMS qualifies as a design win under Spectrumís 2002 design win milestone criteria of US $3 million in projected revenue within the 2 years of receipt of the first purchase order. Spectrum has already received an order worth US $500,000 towards this design win.
