Brooktrout Technology Addresses the Industry at SpeechTEK 2002

10/18/2002 - Brooktrout Technology, a leading provider of innovative hardware and software platforms that enable applications for the New NetworkTM, announced that it is exhibiting at SpeechTEK, October 29 - November 1, 2002 at the New York City Marriott Marquis, and will participate on a panel focused on new speech technologies. Brooktrout and Cambridge VoiceTech, a leading provider of VoiceXML development tools and solutions for Microsoft® Windows®, will demonstrate an exciting speech-enabled unified messaging application based on VoiceXML technology. In addition, Brooktrout will showcase its award winning TR1000TM and VantageTM PCI products, which are ideally suited for use in speech recognition applications, enhanced services and messaging platforms.

Product Demonstration
Brooktrout Technology and its partner Cambridge VoiceTech will demonstrate a speech-enabled unified messaging application that allows users to access their e-mail via wireless or wireline phone by simply dialing a phone number. The application utilizes Brooktrout’s TR1000 platform to provide speech processing and IVR functions in combination with Cambridge VoiceTech’s VoiceXML-based messaging software.

Brooktrout Technology offers the latest in hardware for speech technology and provides the platforms and technical features necessary to voice-enable tomorrow’s service provider and enterprise applications. Brooktrout continues to work closely with leading speech vendors, including SpeechWorks and Nuance, and is a member of both the VoiceXML Forum and the SALT Forum.

Speech Technology Panel
On October 30th at 1:30 PM EST, Brooktrout Technology product manager Keith Byerly will join other industry veterans on a panel entitled, “Speech Solutions for Carriers” which will explore mass-market behaviors and show carriers how they can increase ease-of-use and enhance the user’s experience. The panel will reveal lessons learned by telcos who have launched value-added voice-enhanced services, and will also discuss how speech-enabled applications can improve efficiencies and the bottom line. In addition, the panel participants will examine new technologies that overcome critical system bottlenecks to deliver the scalability needed for carrier-grade solutions.

Byerly is an experienced technical marketing professional with over 15 years in product and program management roles at leading technology companies such as Dragon Systems, Hewlett-Packard, and Lexis-Nexis. Byerly is responsible for managing Brooktrout’s TR1000 product line. He earned a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT in 1981.
