Tektronix Announces Major Donation to Arizona State Engineering Department

10/17/2002 - In a formal ceremony held on the Arizona State University (ASU) campus, Tektronix cut the ribbon on a new engineering laboratory named after the innovative leader in test, measurement, and monitoring company.

Tektronix recently donated a large sum of state-of-the-art equipment to the college for its new analog and digital circuits laboratory. The instruments will enhance and upgrade the quality of education in the ASU Department of Electrical Engineering.

ASU recently joined the Tektronix Key School program, which focuses on strengthening the company's partnerships with strategic engineering universities. The universities involved in the program receive enhanced educational experience through equipment donations and advice on curriculum and technology research projects. This, in turn, allows them to attract outstanding faculty and recruit quality students. Tektronix benefits from brand recognition and a continual flow of engineering interns and graduates.

"The Electrical Engineering Department is extremely pleased with the creation of the laboratory through the Tektronix donation," said Steve Goodnick, ASU Electrical Engineering Department Chair. "The state-of-the-art equipment received as part of this donation will greatly modernize our undergraduate curriculum in the critical technological areas of communications and analog/mixed signal circuit design."

"Tektronix' University Relations department maintains long-standing, effective relationships with key engineering schools in order to help cultivate future engineers. Activities range from sponsoring student projects to supporting specific technology research to sitting on advisory boards to contributing equipment for use in labs," said Dave Brown, Vice President, Central Engineering, Tektronix. "Engineering students need access to current instruments in order to enter the workplace with up-to-date hands-on experience. Tektronix is proud to provide its resources to ASU as it educates tomorrow's engineers."
