10/17/2002 - Trimble introduced the 5800 GPS RTK Rover with the Bluetooth-enabled ACU controller for cable-free surveying. With cable-free operation and color graphical capabilities, these new additions to the Trimble ToolboxTM of Integrated Surveying solutions allow surveyors to save time and money while achieving major improvements in workflow efficiency.
The 5800 RTK Rover is the world's first survey-grade GPS system with Bluetooth technology. The small system integrates a GPS receiver, GPS antenna, UHF radio, battery, Bluetooth technology with the new ACU controller. The ACU also features Bluetooth and delivers cable-free GPS capability with remote control of the receiver for RTK surveying.
Paired with the ACU controller, the 5800 RTK Rover System makes it easy to perform surveying work faster and smarter. Using the touch-screen display, users can simply tap the graphic of the option they wish to select for maximum speed and ease of use. The ACU controller is ideal for data visualization, navigation, data selection, positioning, stakeout, and control work.
The level of dynamic interactivity of the ACU means users receive more field guidance and have greater control over the data they are working with since they can see all data that has been collected or staked. As a result, omissions and other mistakes are eliminated and a more complete and accurate survey is produced. With the convenience and power of the ACU controller, surveyors no longer need a full PC in the field.
"Our new 5800 RTK Rover with the ACU controller is the latest example of innovative solutions that are focused on meeting our customers' needs," said Jürgen Kliem, division vice president of survey for Trimble's Geomatics and Engineering Division. "The system is expected to increase the efficiency, productivity and profitability of anyone using it. After all, that's the purpose of virtually all modern technology."
The ACU controller is also compatible with Trimble's conventional total stations, providing a graphical, interactive user interface capable of operating as part of the total station or as a standalone tool. All field data can be recorded in one file, accessible with one user interface. Additionally, customers can choose to run either the Trimble Survey ControllerTM or Trimble Survey Pro software on the ACU for a wide range of field surveying work.
Trimble's new 5800 RTK Rover and ACU controller are available now through Trimble's Geomatics and Engineering Division dealer network.
