10/16/2002 - NewMonics Professional Services, experts in end-to-end telematics systems and associated application frameworks, provided architecture, design and development services for Navigation Technologies' recently announced traffic solution being demonstrated at the 9th World Congress on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in Chicago from October 14-17, 2002.
Navigation Technologies' traffic solution is an inclusive platform for the aggregation of multiple sources of traffic information from incident and flow to weather and events. The information is combined and merged with NAVTECH map data through a data fusion process and then delivered to the in-vehicle navigation system through a wireless signal. The solution delivers real-time congestion, incident and road condition information directly to the driver, enabling informed routing decisions.
"The key to good design of a real-time traffic information system is making the difficult look simple," said Andreas Hecht, Managing Director, NAVTECHSM Professional Services. "NewMonics contributed to our success in achieving that goal, and the proof is being demonstrated today."
NewMonics Professional Services combined its proven skills and methodologies for developing telematics systems for the commercial trucking industry with Navigation Technologies' market understanding to develop software for the traffic solution.
"With extensive experience in commercial telematics, NewMonics is able to reduce obstacles to implementation and provide insight into what works and to avoid what does not," stated Jim Lathrop, Director of Professional Services, NewMonics. "Through pioneering in this field, we have gained the knowledge and expertise that attracts customers like Navigation Technologies and enables us to implement systems quickly and efficiently."
