Picture Perfect Plasma

10/14/2002 - Latest development in the fast growing market for plasma display screens is the new 46inch (117cm) DPD 4610, available as a component and produced by Densitron Technologies plc, one of the UKs most innovative flat panel display manufacturers.

The 46inch plasma screen has a resolution of 852 x 480 pixels and has been developed specifically to provide one of the highest levels of brightness and contrast available.

With a pixel pitch of 1.182mm x 1.182mm, a display area of 1007mm x 567.4mm, aspect ratio of 16:9, a viewing angle of >160, zoom in/out function and 6 OSD display languages to choose from, the plasma screen is a high performance, high quality addition to the market.

The DPD 4610 has a high peak luminance of 700 cd/m2, achieved by enlarging the plasma discharge area and guiding the light to the front of the display panel ensuring a high level of brightness.

Colour purity is greatly improved by dynamically enhancing the colour correction process giving clearer, sharper images. In addition, the plasma screen has 16.7million display colours at its disposal.

Other benefits include an automatic power control that optimises the power consumption and brightness levels to guarantee excellent viewing performance in all conditions. A dynamic white balance facility enables a wide brightness dynamic range to be achieved while gamma correction produces a picture surpassing CRT quality in respect of colour purity and low level saturation.

Nick How, Technical Director of Densitron Europe Limited believes manufacturers and installers will be keen to include the new 4610 in their range. "Excellence in both design and performance are crucial to success in the increasingly competitive plasma market," says How.

"Our choice of a 46 inch display provides optimum viewing standards, while our long experience in electronic screen technology brings a specification to rival any global brand," he adds.
