Equator Joins the Nation in Fighting Breast Cancer

10/14/2002 - The employees and families of Equator Technologies, a leading provider of high-performance, programmable and power-efficient system-on-a-chip (SOC) processors for video streaming and image processing applications, and more than a million others nationwide armed themselves with pink ribbons and their favorite jeans to ban together in the fight against breast cancer for Lee National Denim Day® on October 4th. This nationwide program is the world’s largest single-day fundraiser for breast cancer research, education screening and treatment programs.

For the seventh year, Lee Jeans? has invited businesses and organizations to participate in Lee National Denim Day by allowing their employees to wear denim to work in exchange for a $5 donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. More than 35% of Equator employees participated in this nationwide fight against breast cancer.

"At Equator, we have a set of corporate values that we sum up as ‘live, love, legacy and learn.’ Part of that is giving back to the communities that support us and participating in Lee National Denim Day was one way for us to do our part," said Dr. Avi Katz, president and CEO of Equator Technologies. "We all know people who have been affected by cancer. This program provides an opportunity for our employees to make a real contribution that will be felt in our own communities."

In six years, Lee National Denim Day has raised more than $30 million for the Komen Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating breast cancer. The goal this year is to raise $7.5 million, 100 percent of which goes directly to the Komen Foundation.

Donations from Lee Denim Day have funded everything from research grants at the nation’s most prestigious universities and teaching hospitals to local breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs in medically underserved areas of the country.
