The Pentium III SBC Replacement from Kontron Embedded Computers

10/10/2002 - Due to the high market acceptance and the favorable price arrangements, Kontron assumes that the Intel® Pentium® 4 processor will replace the Intel® Pentium® III in the medium term. Based on this, Kontron is now introducing the high performance full-size PICMG board PCI749 which, apart from the Pentium® 4 socket 478, is also fitted with the Intel® 845 chip set and up to 2 GB of DDR SDRAM. With its extensive features - dual LAN, standard MiniPCI for expansions such as ISDN interface, modem, WaveLAN and Bluetooth – the board is predestined for a wide range of duties: Applications ranging from image processing through data communications to automation and servers can be optimally realized with the board. And playing a part in this are the numerous interfaces provided (2 x COM, 1 x LPT, 1x FDD, 2x DIE, 4 x USB, PS2/Mouse and KBD) which enable the PCI-749 to be integrated into applications without any problem.

The Full-Size PICMG PCI749 will be available from mid December 2002.
