Hot Swap is a Must fpr CompactPCI Rack

10/10/2002 - With the CP-ASM10-PSB, Kontron is now introducing a new 19" rack which can accommodate up to 14 CompactPCI boards (double height). A special feature of the rack is an airflow of at least 2 m/s (from the front to the back) which ensures enormous cooling power. The fans as well as the power will be monitored by a module. In case of error and alarm the system administrator can be notified. Not only that, with the 6U CompactPCI rack two Ethernet switches per slot are connected via the backplane, so that no Ethernet wiring is needed. The big advantage of this wiring method: The hot-swap capability of the devices is increased substantially. The CP-ASM10-PSB racks therefore conform to the PICMG 2.16 standard.

The CP-ASM10-PSB is a further development of the CP-ASM6-PSB introduced by Kontron in July of this year. Similarly, it too can be equipped with up to three hot-swap voltage supplies (both AC as well as DC) which are kept redundant.

The 6U CompactPCI Rack PICMG 2.16 is available with immediate effect.
