10/10/2002 - IONA®, the leading e-Business platform provider for Web Services Integration, announced IONA's Orbix End 2 AnywhereTM Web Services Integration Platform, in conjunction with IBM's SQLSeries, has been awarded "Best Vertical Domain Application" at the OMG Object Application Awards 2002.
In it's eighth year, the awards recognized the most outstanding object orientated customized applications being used in the enterprise. IONA and IBM were nominated for the award by Klein+Stekl, Germany and Zuercher Kantonal Bank, Switzerland.
IONA and IBM were jointly honoured with the award after successfully implementing an Information Management System that maintains data related to all mainframe-based banking applications at Zuercher Kantonal Bank. The system interprets meta-data to form a generic GUI and data management application without requiring additional programming. This allows seamless integration and availability of mainframe data across the bank.
