Fujitsu Offers EMC's New CLARiiON CX400 along with PRIMEPOWER Extended Architecture Server Line

10/9/2002 - Fujitsu Technology Solutions announced that it will add the new EMC CLARiiON CX400 storage system to its range of storage products. In keeping with a recently announced expanded storage alliance with EMC, Fujitsu now provides its customers with additional solutions from EMC to complement PRIMEPOWERTM servers with extended architecture for unparalleled storage performance in a SolarisTM environment.

"The ability to offer customers top of line solutions, whether independent or packaged, for their business-critical computing needs is furthered both by Fujitsu's new PRIMEPOWER servers with extended architecture and EMC's new CX series of CLARiiON storage products," said Richard McCormack, vice president of product marketing at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, Inc.

The CX400 complements the PRIMEPOWER product line by delivering enterprise level functionality and leading price performance for customers with entry level storage requirements. The combination of PRIMEPOWER and the CX400 is a scalable and affordable entry point solution that features all of the software functionality of the CLARiiON family while supporting high availability and clustered environments. As your performance, scalability, or connectivity requirements grow, the CLARiiON CX series grows with you, offering data-in-place upgrade to the CX600.

For example, the integrated offering of Fujitsu's mid-range PRIMEPOWER 650 with the CLARiiON CX400 provides the highest density compute node with storage in its class and takes advantage of both server and storage scalability. The combination of the CX400 cached bandwidth rates of 680 MB/s and the proven performance of the PRIMEPOWER 650, provides customers with an exceptional platform for high volume transaction-based database processing.

"Customers want to increase the availability, reliability, and the scalability of their infrastructure, while also minimizing risk and complexity," said Terry Richardson, EMC's vice president of reseller sales. "The addition of the new PRIMEPOWER servers combined with EMC's automated network storage provides customers with a UNIX® platform that meets all of these requirements through the consolidation of servers and their information. EMC and Fujitsu Technology Solutions are combining their data center expertise to integrate solutions that help customers meet business objectives faster, with less risk and with improved efficiency."

A Winning Combination: PRIMEPOWER Servers, CLARiiON Storage, and Managed Services
Coupled with Managed Services from Fujitsu Technology Solutions. Inc., Fujitsu PRIMEPOWER Solaris compatible servers and the EMC CLARiiON CX400 provide the most complete and highly available UNIX offering for customers; together, they beat other solutions on availability, price/performance, and management of customer IT assets. Customers receive the most powerful and scalable Solaris compatible servers on the market (which can be coupled with the high availability PRIMECLUSTERTM solution), together with the leading performance and efficiencies of EMC storage systems, management software, and storage area networks.

List price for entry-level configurations of the PRIMEPOWER 650 and the EMC CLARiiON CX400 combination start at less than $130,000.
