AudioCodes Selects Performance Technologies' PICMG 2.16 Embedded Ethernet Switches for Its Media Gateways

10/8/2002 - Performance Technologies announced that AudioCodes, a leading provider of Voice over Packet (VoP) technologies, selected Performance Technologies' IPnexusTM CPC4401 Embedded Ethernet Switch for use in its Media Gateway product family.

AudioCodes' market-specific, standards-based media gateway platforms leverage the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group's (PICMG®) 2.16 embedded Ethernet backplane specification, which Performance Technologies introduced in September 2000. AudioCodes' IPmedia gateways benefit network equipment providers and OEMs by accelerating and enhancing their packet-based network solutions in broadband access, trunking gateway, cable, wireless and IP Centrex markets around the globe.

AudioCodes' media gateways use Performance Technologies' IPnexus CPC4401 to provide backplane-switching functionality between their award-winning TrunkPack ® VoIP Media Gateway board and the resources in the PICMG 2.16 backplane. The now mature 2.16 backplane and Performance Technologies' embedded switching products allow designers such as AudioCodes to make faster, more scalable and fault-tolerant systems that can be brought to market quicker than with traditional design practices.
