10/8/2002 - Marimba, the Software Change-Management Company, announced that it is joining forces with Citrix Systems to deliver enhanced, end-to-end solutions that help enterprises more effectively manage the hardware, software and IT resources for large, complex application server computing environments. The new alliance between the two companies provides Marimba with Premier membership in the Citrix Business AllianceTM (CBA), including joint integration, testing, and marketing activities.
"This is an exciting and important development for our mutual customers and the broad server marketplace," said Rich Wyckoff, Marimba's president and CEO. "We're combining the core strengths of the Marimba and Citrix offerings, and working closely together to enable additional automation within the application server management process. It takes innovative, collaborative approaches like this to meet the dynamic requirements of today's large, diverse server population."
"With mainstream adoption of the Citrix application server computing model, there has been corresponding growth in demand for server change and configuration management solutions that work seamlessly in a heterogeneous environment," said Garry Olah, director of business development programs for Citrix. "We welcome Marimba to the CBA as a member whose technologies can help to meet the growing needs of companies managing large, diverse, complex server environments."
Marimba is a leading provider of software change and configuration management solutions for servers, desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. New Microsoft Terminal Services capabilities are among the key enhancements recently introduced with the new release of Marimba's third-generation Server Change Management products. These allow administrators to manage virtually any type of server environment from a single, centralized console. As a result, companies can exercise greater control over how they deploy and manage server-based software, collect and report on server applications and system configurations, and automate remote operations to more effectively use their IT resources. Also, by leveraging Marimba's inventory control and browser-based reporting capabilities, IT administrators can more accurately plan and rapidly execute server provisioning projects, emergency security patch deployments, and server consolidation initiatives.
In addition, Citrix users can use the Marimba solution to collect and analyze data to determine which applications might be migrated from single-user to multi-user Windows terminal servers.
