Anritsu Company’s Broadband VNA Earns Market Engineering Awards from Frost & Sullivan

10/4/2002 - Anritsu’s ME7808A Broadband Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) continues to be recognized as one of the most innovative test instruments, as it has earned two distinguished Market Engineering Awards from Frost & Sullivan, a global leader in strategic market training and growth consulting. The prestigious awards recognized the ME7808A as the year’s most innovative test instrument overall as well as the top VNA, according to independent analysts who conducted extensive evaluations and research on leading measurement instruments.

The ME7808A earned Frost & Sullivan’s Market Engineering Award for Product Innovation & Introduction and Product Innovation (Network Analyzers). Both Market Engineering Awards are presented annually to the company that has demonstrated excellence in new products and technologies within its respective industries. In presenting the awards to Anritsu, Frost & Sullivan recognizes that Anritsu has shown innovation by launching an emerging product such as the Broadband VNA.

To choose a recipient of each Market Engineering Award, the respective Frost & Sullivan analyst teams track all new product launches, R&D spending, products in development, and new product features and modifications. This is accomplished through interviews with market participants, and extensive secondary and technology research. All new product launches and new products in development within each company are compared and evaluated based on degree of innovation and customer satisfaction. Companies are then ranked by number of new product launches and new product developments.

"Research indicates that end-user acceptance has been very positive. The ME7808A has become one of Anritsu’s most popular and market differentiating products. Anritsu has successfully challenged the market leader in this space and been a winner with this innovative product," said Shekar Gopalan, Frost & Sullivan Vice President of Research and Consulting, Industrial Business Unit.

Kiran Unni, the analyst for Frost & Sullivan’s Product Innovation & Introduction, concurred, stating, "When Anritsu launched the ME7808A, it was considered a significant price/performance breakthrough in the broadband characterization of high-speed devices at both the R&D and production stages. Over the last two years, the instrument has lived up to its promise of being an innovative, cost-effective and reliable product."

To earn the awards, the Broadband VNA excelled in a long list of specific criteria established by Frost & Sullivan. Among the criteria are the significance of the product in its industry, competitive advantage, the product’s uniqueness and revolutionary technology, product acceptance in the marketplace, new product value-added services, and the number of competitors with similar products.

"When we developed the ME7808A, we believed that we had designed a one-of-a-kind instrument with a feature set and performance level unprecedented in the industry. To be recognized by a prestigious independent source such as Frost & Sullivan validates our beliefs when we introduced the ME7808A," said Frank Tiernan, general manager of Anritsu Company’s Microwave Measurement Division.

In addition to the Market Engineering Awards, the ME7808A has also earned an Honorable Mention in Test & Measurement World’s annual Best in Test competition.
