Sun Recognizes Top Performing Suppliers in 2002 Awards Program

10/2/2002 - Sun Microsystems announced the winners of its twelfth annual Supplier Awards Program. The Supplier Awards honor those companies who make outstanding contributions to Sun Microsystems' ability to deliver superior quality and value to its end customers.

The awards program has three levels: Meritorious Performance, Best-in-Class and one overall Supplier of the Year. Benchmark Electronics of Angleton, Texas won this year's Supplier of the Year Award for its work in the contract manufacture of Sun's highly successful entry level server products.

Best-in-Class Winners include Banta Global Turnkey Group; Fujitsu Components, Ltd.; Neilsen Manufacturing, Inc.; Seagate Technology; Solectron Corporation; Sony Electronic Devices Division; and Texas Instruments.

Meritorious Performance awards for production suppliers were awarded to Agere Systems Inc.; APW Ltd.; Fujitsu Storage Products; Micron Technology, Inc.; MiTAC/Synnex; Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.; Samsung Semiconductor, Inc.; Suzuka Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. and Toshiba Corporation - Storage Device Division.

Sun also recognized suppliers in the areas of customer support services and logistics. Meritorious Award winners in these categories are Benchmark Hospitality; Datagate, Inc; General Dynamics Network Systems; Nippon Express Co. Ltd. and PrO Unlimited, Inc.
