10/2/2002 - IP Infusion, a leading provider of intelligent network software for enhanced IP services, announced the availability of version 5.0 of its ZebOSTM Advanced Routing Suite (ARS). IP Infusion now adds enhanced support for the Teja development environment on the Intel® IXP1200, as well as an integrated TCP/IP stack support for real-time operating systems. In addition, ZebOS ARS Release 5.0 extends the IS-IS protocol with traffic engineering.
"ZebOS 5.0 is a cornerstone release for IP Infusion given that besides our extensive set of protocol support, we can now offer enhanced integration with the Teja development environment for use with the Intel IXP1200," said Nick Keating, President and CEO of IP Infusion. "This assists communication equipment manufacturers by allowing them to more easily integrate network processor data plane components into their designs. We have also integrated a TCP/IP stack for both IPv4 and IPv6 support into our control plane software. This allows us to offer complete TCP/IP and routing protocol solutions for support of virtual routing, redundancy, and IPv6; features that are key to many of our core markets."
About Advanced Routing Suite Version 5.0 Features
Teja Interface Mapper software for the Intel IXP1200
The IXP1200 mapper software provides communication between the control plane and data plane to add and delete routes from the network processor cache memory. This communication takes place via IP Infusion's Network Processor Application Programming Interface (NPapi) and the Teja Interface Mapper that is designed to interface to network processor systems. The NPapi generates calls to the Teja Interface Mapper to update the routing information in the data plane and translates these calls to allow communication between the ZebOS Network Services Module (NSM) and Teja's Network Processor Software Development Platform (Teja NP). By providing a control plane infrastructure as well as protocol stack forwarding support, the Teja Interface Mapper allows a complete system solution for OEM customers to quickly and easily incorporate control plane protocol support with the Teja software development platform. This development environment can save significant time and expense when developing applications for the Intel IXP1200 network processor.
TCP/IP Module for IPv4 and IPv6
IP Infusion now offers TCP/IP stack support for real-time operating systems requiring IPv4 and/or IPv6 capabilities. The ZebOS TCP/IP Module for IPv4 and IPv6 is designed to allow communications equipment designers to easily support both routing/switching protocols, as well as virtual routing features for OSPFv2 and BGP-4. It supports nearly 50 RFCs and IETF drafts and provides IPv4, IPv6, IPSec, virtual routing, and redundancy support. The TCP/IP dual stack is integrated into the ZebOS Network Services Module and is delivered in source code format.
IS-IS Traffic Engineering
ZebOS IS-IS Traffic Engineering extensions prevent traffic flows from crossing networks that are most congested and maps them onto an existing topology to avoid bottlenecks and failed links. The IS-IS traffic engineering extensions are implemented using new Type Length Values (TLVs), per drfat-ietf-isis-traffic-04.txt.
About IP Infusion's ZebOSTM Routing Suites
IP Infusion designs, develops, and markets its ZebOSTM family of advanced IP routing suites, which are based on a unique, modular, multi-process architecture featuring control-plane components that provide route redistribution and conversion, management services, and an OS/processor abstraction layer for routing and switching modules. This high-performance routing software features IPv4/IPv6 versions of OSPF, BGP, RIP, PIM-SM, and IS-IS routing protocols; MPLS, BGP-VPN, RSVP-TE, and CR-LDP switching and signaling protocols; Mobile IP, routing redundancy, multicast, virtual routing, and Layer 2 VPN (draft Martini) support. ZebOS software suites can be delivered as portable, platform-independent source code or in server solutions.

About IP Infusion
A leading provider of intelligent network software for enhanced IP services, IP Infusion is a developer of networking software that enables platforms, hardware, devices, and media across the Internet to communicate with each other openly and without dependence on specific technologies or platforms. Just as Unix and Windows are central to the PC and server markets, this leading edge software will drive the communication equipment market by providing the intelligence and manageability needed to develop equipment for creating enhanced IP services. IP Infusion was founded in 1999 and has more than 60 employees in its San Jose, California headquarters and elsewhere in the USA and Europe. The company has a growing global customer base in the wired and wireless networking markets and has alliances with the primary network processor (NPU) suppliers. IP Infusion is a member of the Network Processing Forum and an active participant in the IETF.
